Peter Allen was born in the outback Australian town of Tenterfield in 1944. He made his {error}entertainment debut at the age of 5 impersonating Al Jolson. As a teenager he became a pop star and then toured Asia. There he met Judy Garland who took him to Londonwhere he met and become engaged to her daughter Liza Minnelli. In the US Peter enjoyed the highs of success by winning an Oscar, selling out performances in Radio City Music Hall, and {error}receiving adulation when he returned to Australia. There were also plenty of lows … breaking up with his wife, staging a Broadway flop, the death of his partner and his own {error}battle with illness.

Who said fairy tales were all unicorns and rainbows? This modern twist on{error} the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a musical {error}format that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel-all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them. All your{error} favorite characters are seen with both their flaws {error}and perhaps redeeming characteristics. Won't you come with us into the woods?

The plot covers events over the next three years relating to Shelby's health, and with how the women cope with their conflicts, while remaining friends: Shelby's decision to have a child despite jeopardizing her health, Clairee's friendship with the curmudgeon Ouiser; Annelle's transformation from a shy, anxious newcomer in{error} town to a good-time girl then repentant revival-tent Christian; and Truvy's relationships with the men in her {error}family. Although the main storyline involves Shelby, her mother M'Lynn, and Shelby's medical battles, the group's underlying friendship is prominent throughout the drama.

Memphis is a musical with music by David Bryan, lyrics by Bryan and Joe DiPietro, and a book by DiPietro.
The show is loosely based on the story of Memphis disc jockey Dewey{error} Phillips, one of the first white DJs to play black music in the 1950s. It played on Broadway from Oct 2009 to Aug 2012, winning four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The{error} show was previously staged in MA & CA during the {error}2003–04 season, as well as WA during the 2008–2009 season.
